Scene: Quinn is waking up from his nap. Ben walks into Q's room.
Ben: Hey, buddy! How was your nap?
Quinn: Good, Dada!
No lie! He said it plain as day! Ben heard it in person and I heard it over the monitor. Ya'll, it's AMAZING to see Quinn contemplate things, actions, and words. He's such a thinker and analyzer. To watch him experience something as simple as walking into MDO class by himself is just awesome. It's the best feeling in the world!

I found this video of Ben and Quinn reading Winnie the Pooh. See, our video camera only records in HD; which means the files are too big for my computer. So we have to store them on an external drive. And long story short, it's so complicated and time consuming to download videos- which is why you don't see more of them. Believe me, we have TONS. Anyway, I filmed this clip on a Sunday morning before church. I love to hear Q laugh! It's the happiest sound on earth! I think you will agree.

Quinn-speak
We have a regular chatterbox on our hands these days. Mostly everything is "Dada, Dada, Dada!" But every now and then, we get to hear parts of Q's growing vocabulary. There are even a few simple sentences!
- Buh- "Bye" with a heavy southern accent
- Buh Tay- "Bye, Taylor." Taylor is a little girl in his MDO class.
- Git Dawg- "Get, dog." He says this with a high, shrill voice. I assume imitating me.
- Oose- "Juice"
- Day don dawg- "Lay down, dog."Again, imitating me.

A Sad Day
This is the scene outside Quinn's bedroom window as I type. It makes me so sad. We are (or were) one of the few lucky ones in Fall Creek to have green space behind our house. And we considered ourselves extra lucky because the land behind our house was privately owned and housed a beautiful pond, a white horse, and a couple of herons. I chose this room for Quinn so that he could look out and watch the horse. And slowly, things started to change. The horse left. The corral left. They came and bush-hogged some stuff. The pond was drained. And then the bulldozer arrived. I don't even want to know what's going to be built back there. I guess it's time for Ben and I to pour some funds into landscaping the backyard!

Don't Make Me Stay!
I started a new bible study class this morning- meaning that Quinn went to the nursery for a couple of hours. Out of those two hours, he stopped crying for about 20 minutes said the teacher. And when I say 'crying,' I mean screaming as loud as one can, buckets of tears pouring, face red as a beet, and almost to the point of hyperventilating. I know in my heart that Q won't remember these times and that the more he goes, the better it will get. And I feel really badly for the nursery teachers that just have to take it. Q starts Mother's Day Out on Friday, which is an all day program (until 2:30pm). I pray that he's able to enjoy himself for more than 20 minutes! And I pray for extra patience for his teachers, Ms. Michelle and Mrs. Donna!
Oh, to top off today, Q got a good size bump on his noggin from being hit with a wooden toy! Preschool is just rough all around!

One Year Stats
Quinn had his one year check-up today. And once again, Dr. Suell commented that Q is one of the healthiest babies he's ever seen. Music to my ears! Q got four shots today and had blood drawn. He is the bravest boy I have ever met, only crying about 30 seconds after the LAST shot. It was the MMR shot and had the biggest needle. Dr. Suell shared his concerns about the upcoming flu season and told me Q would get a flu shot today and another in one month. For the first time since birth, Quinn fell out of the 90s in weight percentage! Little man is growing up, up, and away!
Weight: 25 lbs and 8 oz (80th percentile)
